El Faro

In the 1940s when Powell ate at El Faro (823 Greenwich St., at Horatio Street), exotic food consisted of Spanish, Italian, and Chinese cuisine, and the West Village and 14th Street area to 8th Avenue was known as "Little Spain." Today the restaurant is little changed from the days when Powell dined there.
